The 'Getting Started Guide' is currently based on an outdated Camel archetype (from version 1.2, whereas we are currently at version 1.4). For example, the version number and repositories are incorrect in the generated pom.xml. Currently, the Getting Started doc includes steps to correct this, but we really need to bring the whole archetype up to date (and maintain it on an ongoing basis).

We also need to make this archetype easy to access. E.g. we could publish it on the default Maven repository (so we don't have to specify where it is) or else we could create a script that knows where to find the archetype.
