Event journal should use MapDB's append-only file

    Description

      Since version 0.9.8 MapDB removed the support for append-only stores which is used by the internal event journal. According to http://www.mapdb.org/changelog.html#Version_098_2013-12-30 it will be added back in 1.1 so we should upgrade our version to that once it is released.
