Restructure EAP 7 Messaging Guide

XMLWordPrintable

There a couple of issues with the current structure of the EAP 7 Messaging Guide

      Issue 1
Major topics should be there own chapters but instead are mostly grouped under 2 main chapters, Basic Configuration and Advanced Configuration. This was due to bad ascii doc formatting.

      Changes:
      – Major topics are now there own chapters making them easier to find. Before a customer would need to click on one of the large chapters and then scroll down to find the subject/topic they were interested in.

      – The new list of chapters in the navigation and TOC is now much longer. To improve navigation and readability the list of chapters was broken up into parts. The new parts, and the chapters they include, are:
      — I About Messaging and JBoss EAP 7 (chaps 1&2)
      — II Configuring single node messaging systems (chaps 3-25)
      — III Configuring multi node messaging systems (chaps 26-31)
      — IV Performance Tuning (chaps 32-26)

      Issue 2
It is currently unclear what is meant precisely by "Basic Configuration" and "Advanced Configuration". The division into Basic and Advanced was first proposed by Jeff Mesnil and was seen as a good way to break up the large amount of information. However peer reviews consistently noted that the terms were not clear in their usage. It was Jeff's intention to separate configuration relating to a single-node deployment from configuration for multi-node deployments.

      Changes:
      – "Basic Configuration" and "Advanced Configuration" changed to "CONFIGURING SINGLE-NODE MESSAGING SYSTEMS" and "CONFIGURING MULTI-NODE MESSAGING SYSTEMS" for clarity

      – 2 topics previously under "Advanced Configuration" were moved to Part II because they detail configuration for single nodes. Sections moved are as follows:

---Subchapter 4.6, Interceptors, is now Chapter 21
---Subchapter 4.5, Message Grouping, was split. Most of the content is now Chapter 22. The topic relating to clustering was moved to 28.5 (under the chapter on Clustering)
