When testing a datasource, if failure occurs, a generic message is reported in the console:

WFLYJCA0040: failed to invoke operation: WFLYJCA0047: Connection is not valid

To discover the cause (e.g. invalid user, password, etc.), it is necessary to look into the server.log. The actual error (such as the invalid user exception seen below) should be reported in the console.
