New Messages View does not refresh after dropping file on a route

I ran into this doing the example in chapter 6 of the tutorial http://fusesource.com/docs/ide/2.1/tutorials/RiderTutDeployFESB.html

I started the ESB from the servers view, connected to it, and dragged the simple-route project over to it. Then I turned on tracing, and dragged both of the example xml files onto the route. Nothing appeared in the Messages View until I clicked on the refresh icon
