All commands in the bin directory get "[: 27: client: unexpected operator" warning on Ubuntu

I got a warning like "[: 27: client: unexpected operator" when using most of the commands in the bin directory on Ubunto 11.10. (This was on an EC2 instance). The scripts all still appear to work correctly. I don't get this message on OS X.
