No log records in server.log

I'm on a Windows box with JDK 6u26 and Jenkins build 1321. In standalone.xml I've this entry for the testcase to be attached:
<logger category="testcase"><level name="DEBUG"/></logger>

However, server.log contains only the System.out.println() stuff, but nothing regarding Logger.debug(). Approximately a weeks ago the log records were available, but the path character wasn't "\" – instead it was "%5C". But now there are no records at all.
