Since 0.7.0 we use a pessimistic locking strategy for all editors. In 0.6.0 and older we used a form of optimistic locking where the editor implementations were responsible of dealing with conflicts/collisions.

We should make this configurable per editor using a new annotation attribute. This will allow developers to choose a locking strategy for their custom editors.
