      Description

Need a default instance group that does not contain all instances.

      Customer Explanation

      • I want an instance group that is used, whenever there is no instance group specified (via organization, inventory etc.). This instance group already exists and is called "default". My only problem with this: The default instance group contains all instances, and this behaviour is hard-wired in the installer.
      • The underlying problem here is, that the "default" instance group at the moment: It is default from the perspective of the jobs. Whenever a job runs and there is no instance group given, it just uses the default instance group. That is exactly the thing we are looking for. But it is also default from the perspective of the instances. That means every instance is always part of the default instance group.
      • For example:
Let's say I have two instances: instanceA and instanceB. I want it to be possible to use instanceA as a default and instanceB only if I say "use instanceB". I could create an instance group each: instanceGroupA and instanceGroupB, containing instanceA and instanceB respectively. But I cannot make any of them the global default instance group to use. Because there is always another instance group, called "default", which will allways contain instanceA and instanceB.
