    Description

We agreed that the horizontal navigation bar isn't really appropriate for our menu, an we should make it somehow more ergonomic and practical.

I am suggesting a floating menu, either fixed or sliding using JS, and ideally it should appear only when needed - e.g. on mouseover.
Marek suggested a classical left hand side menu, evt. with a hide button.

IRC log (mixed with Windup 3.0 discussion) :

(17:18:04) marekn: listening, and I think we should refactor top nav menu to side nav menu
(17:19:00) jsightler: ozizka: Noone seems to want to answer that question.
      (17:21:45) ozizka-FN: marekn: +1
(17:22:05) marekn: really? I thought we keep it was the answer until we decide we have only dynamic
(17:22:13) ozizka-FN: Or perhaps some kind of floating side menu
(17:22:34) jsightler: marekn: I don't think it is even definite that all of the reports will be dynamic.
(17:22:48) ozizka-FN: marekn: IIRC the discussion was that sometimes the static might be useful
(17:22:57) marekn: ozizka: floating not, but like dashboard style UI
(17:23:04) ozizka-FN: Also Tobias was talking about exporting to PDF
(17:23:28) jsightler: ozizka: Something like the left side here? https://rawgit.com/patternfly/patternfly/master/tests/tab.html
(17:23:30) jbossbot: Title: Tab - PatternFly
(17:23:30) marekn: yep, we probably have Export option everythere,
      (17:23:33) ozizka-FN: marekn: Jenkins style?
(17:25:08) ozizka-FN: jsightler: That's not too much floating. I meant something which would be position: fixed, and staying somewhere around the page, perhaps could be minimized or expand on mouseover...
(17:25:08) jsightler: also we still have windup cli
(17:25:16) ozizka-FN: The thing is, you don't need that navigation most of the time
(17:25:16) marekn: ozizka: jsightler: I imagine something like this https://d85wutc1n854v.cloudfront.net/live/products/600x375/WB0P7N378.png?v=1.1
(17:25:34) ozizka-FN: and the reports tend to get wide
(17:25:58) ozizka-FN: So, top horiz navbar is ugly, and left-sided nav pane takes space...
(17:26:08) ozizka-FN: I can't find an example, use your imagination
(17:26:14) marekn: ozizka: you could get hide it as it is in JIRA with '<<' button
      (17:26:41) ozizka-FN: marekn: Perhaps.
      (17:26:49) ozizka-FN: But that's an extra click
(17:27:31) ozizka-FN: TBH I find that annoying. It should be popping up at the right time. But that's a detail. In general, vertical will be an improvement IMO
(17:27:32) marekn: basically what is growing in items should be vertical
(17:27:36) dansmit: imo we'll have to rework the static ones to keep any consistency in presentation
      (17:27:49) ozizka-FN: marekn: +1
