Singleton deployment fails to automatically start on second node

      1. Get two copies of EAP 7.0.0.DR9 and in each copy modify standalone-ha.xml profile - apply name preferences to simple election policy:

    <name-preferences>node1 node2</name-preferences>
</simple-election-policy>

      2. For both servers, copy singleton-deployment-descriptor.war (see attachments) or any other singleton deployment to standalone/deployments folder.
      3. Run servers in this exact order:

      Server 2 (needs to be started first!)
      ./bin/standalone.sh -c standalone-ha.xml -Djboss.node.name=node2 -Djboss.socket.binding.port-offset=100
      Server 1
      ./bin/standalone.sh -c standalone-ha.xml -Djboss.node.name=node1

      4. Stop Server 1 (named "node1").
      5. Check the server logs.

    Description

      After stopping the node on which the singleton deployment is active, the deployment will fail to automatically start on another node under these conditions:

      1. Simple election policy with applied name preferences is used:

      <simple-election-policy>
    <name-preferences>node1 node2</name-preferences>
</simple-election-policy>

      2. The server named "node2" starts first, so that singleton deployment is active for a while on this node, then server named "node1" is started.
      3. The server named "node1" stops.

      Server "node1" stops without error, however server "node2" gets NPE during the automatic re-deployment.

      The same issue occurs when trying with latest wildfly upstream/master bits.
