@PreDestroy method not called for @Dependent beans (using Instance)

A dependent bean contains @PostConstruct and @PreDestroy annotated methods and is injected using Instance<DependentBean> into a MasterBean.
During iteration over the available instances it can be observed that the postConstruct method is invoked but not the preDestroy method.
