Forum editor throws a "post cannot contain blank message" error, even when the post has contents

Another annoying issue with the forum editor. I was able to post a simple reply here http://community.jboss.org/message/524979#524979 after 6-8 attempts!

Here's what i was trying and what it resulted into:

1) Clicked on reply button to reply to Brian's post
2) Clicked on Quote button to quote Brian's post
3) Type a couple of lines in the forum editor
4) Clicked on Syntax Highlighter --> Plain
5) Added some contents within that "Plain" area.
6) Clicked submit.
7) Forum software doesn't allow me to post and shows me the error message (screen shot attached).

Repeated the steps with different variations around 6-7 times, but the same irritating issue. Finally figured out that the step#4 of adding a "Plain" area messes up the contents. After step#4, i switched to "HTML" view and could see that the contents were empty. I could see the contents in HTML view till step#3. So step#4 ruins the entire post.
