New projects given a console configuration don't persist before the workbench exits (or crashes)

If you create a new console configuration for a project, and Eclipse crashes or exits from some unforseen error, the new console configuration won't be saved, and you'll have to recreate it again.. Shouldn't a console configuration be saved as soon as it's created/changed? (at least not only on "plugin shutdown"?)
