When encountering timeout exception, UI freezes

When expanding a user in the express console view, a loading... appears. If this loading attempt fails due to a timeout exception, the UI freezes for 30-45 seconds, and the user is left confused as to what happened. An error is logged, but, the user has no way to know to check the error log.
