Fabric8 v1 fails to build with brew firewall

The recent firewall rules applied to Brew prevent Fabric8 component from building successfully.

Failure in fabric8/fabric/fabric8-karaf:
[WARNING] Feature resolution failed for swagger-java/1.2.0.redhat-630371
Message: io.fabric8.common.util.MultiException: Error
The Karaf Distro module failed after 9 hours with lots of errors due to trying to download from external repositories.

The settings.xml file that mvn ran with only contained the Brew internal maven repository; all repositories were stripped from the project POMs.
