create a new empty XML doc - then right click to add a new Endpoint to the route; you can't, only Route is possible

We need to allow Endpoints to be created on an empty route - or a route where no node is selected.

e.g. imagine you want to create a new route from "file:foo" to "file:bar" via the context menu only. right now its not possible
