Update Variant endpoints return 200 with updated Content, but docs say 204 No Content

The endpoints for Variant Updates say they return a 204 with No Content, but for all Variants a succesful update actually returns a 200 with the updated Content.

Is this just a doc error, or should it really return the 204 instead?
