NullPointerException preventing application to launch successfully

Some users of the Android version of our Cordova application have reported an application crash at application start (it is unclear yet if they did open it via a notification or not).
The error report on the Google Developer console includes the following stack-trace elements :

java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke interface method 'java.util.Collection org.jboss.aerogear.android.store.Store.readAll()' on a null object reference
    at org.jboss.aerogear.cordova.push.PushHandlerActivity.processPushBundle(PushHandlerActivity.java:60)
